Final Shot List term 1

45 seconds  Cuts to an animation revealing statics about media use, animations of stick figures, emails, computer and phone come across the screen to support. 

Voice of authority: “Researches say that approximately 90 percent of teens worldwide that have access to the internet use social media (Mozes, 2015) whilst this is shocking more than 93 billion emails will be sent today alone,” (10:05am on 28th 3rd 2016) in excess of 2 million cellular phones will be sold today” (10:07am on 28th 3rd 2016). And out of the 7.4 billion people in the world, over 3 billion - will use the Internet worldwide” (10:08am on 28th 3rd 2016)“It is shocking to discover that One in 16 young Australians are currently experiencing depression” “ as well as one in six young Australians, currently experiencing an anxiety condition”
60 seconds Interview taken from Mass Appeal of psychologist Dr Rob Robinson. This interview is overlayed with other images (these follow below).   Psychologists discussing negative affects on teenager’s mental health. He also discusses a solution at the end. He provides evidence that this does in fact affect our mental health.

Narrator says “Youth today were born ‘technological natives’, and with technology playing a predominant part in teenagers lives, there is no way that it doesn’t have an large impact on their psychological health.” 
14 seconds Shot type: Mid Shot

Action: Narrator faces the front straight on to camera. Narrator says dialogue. Once she turns to the left.
Narrator says “Is it right that Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites are not taking responsibility for the images and information that are shaping the minds of impressionistic teenagers today?”

Narrator says “Are social media sites aware of this impact that they have? If they value the protection of their consumers, should their health come under that protection?”

38 seconds A tight, close-up shot of Mr Andrews, Head of Year 8 and media teacher at St Hilda’s School, comes into view talking about “Policies of the school” and “Social media”.   Mr Andrews talks about the affect media has on his students and the number of students directly affected by social media use in relation to the questions asked, “Are there many students that come to you with issues regarding social media?”

10 seconds Back too: A tight, close-up shot of Mr Andrews, Head of Year 8 at St Hilda’s School, concluding on the impact media has on his students and the number of students directly affected by social media use. Mr Andrews concludes talking about the impact media has on his students and the number of students directly affected by social media use.
20 secs Cut to a series of close-up interviews with school students responding to the questions spoken by the narrator  Voice of authority:
 “How many hours a day would you say you spend on social media?”

“Have you ever stayed up late watching Netflix, YouTube or going on social media?”
30 seconds  Dissolves to a long shot, time-lapsed video of a schoolgirl standing in the middle of a pathway with people walking past her as she looks at her iPhone. The voice of authority speaks over the top. Footage of students faces, close up of typing on a laptop and close up of the Facebook page.   The voice of authority speaks over the top, “Social media isn’t going to vanish over night but if we simply turn the phones off and minimize hours spent online teenagers today would live healthier lives. We need to acknowledge the affect it’s having on teens today, where we make conscious decisions about the hours we spend online. Our mental and physical health are important, so why jeopardies that for a few more minutes of endless scrolling and unapologetic tweets?”
